Central European CAP dialogue

Stimulating co-operating among policy- makres, academics, NGO’s and submitting a grant proposal to Freedom House in March 1999, the Foundation for the Development of Polish Agriculture (FDPA), had identified the gap in the area of collaboration between EU applicant countries with regard to policy development. As the result FDPA contacted two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from the Czech Republic (Veronica) and Hungary (AFA - Agricultural Development Foundation). The partners declared their willingness to launch a joint project with its major objective to facilitate the policy dialogue in the Region. The partners agreed that the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) would be one of the most difficult issues as the three countries negotiate to join the European Union.
The main goal of the project was to initiate discussion between decision-makers, people who had influence at Common Agricultural Policy and practitioners from three countries taking a part in the project. The project’s aim was also to stimulate the co-operation between policy-makers, academics, NGOs and research institutes, provide an assessment of anticipated CAP impact in each country, prepare negotiating strategies as well as support regional initiatives focused on the European agriculture policy.

The project was realized in the cooperation with NGO’s from Czech Republic and Hungary.
Project was financed by USAID, Freedom House Foundation and realized in years 1999-2000.
